Ingredients:
- Dawn dish soap
- Olive oil
Instructions:
1. Mix the Solution:
- In a small bowl or container, combine 2 parts Dawn dish soap with 1 part olive oil. For example, if you use 2 tablespoons of Dawn dish soap, mix it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
2. Dilute with Water (Optional):
- If you prefer a milder solution, you can dilute the mixture with water. Add water gradually until you achieve the desired consistency.
3. Wet the Brushes:
- Take your dirty makeup brushes and wet them under lukewarm water. Be careful not to soak the ferrule (the metal part where the bristles are attached) as it can loosen the glue over time.
4. Apply the Cleaner:
- Dip the wet makeup brush into the Dawn dish soap and olive oil mixture. Swirl the brush gently to ensure that the bristles are coated with the solution.
5. Cleanse the Brushes:
- Using your fingers, gently massage the bristles of the makeup brush, working the cleaner into the bristles to loosen makeup residue, oils, and impurities.
6. Rinse Thoroughly:
- Once the brush bristles are thoroughly cleansed, rinse them under lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Ensure that all soap and oil residues are removed from the brushes.
7. Shape and Dry:
- Gently reshape the bristles of the makeup brush with your fingers to their original form. Lay the brushes flat on a clean towel or paper towel to air dry. Avoid standing them upright while wet, as water can seep into the ferrule and loosen the bristles.
8. Repeat if Necessary:
- For heavily soiled brushes, you may need to repeat the cleaning process to ensure thorough cleansing.
9. Enjoy Clean Brushes:
- Once dry, your makeup brushes will be clean, soft, and ready to use for flawless makeup application!
Note: This DIY makeup brush cleaner effectively removes makeup residue and impurities while conditioning the bristles with olive oil. However, it's essential to clean your brushes regularly to maintain hygiene and prevent bacterial buildup. Aim to clean your makeup brushes at least once a week, especially if you use them daily.
